This group project involved redesigning the classic Monopoly board game through the lens of Pictorial Modernism, a design movement emphasizing simplified forms, bold compositions, and strong visual storytelling. The goal was to translate the movement’s core aesthetic and principles into an engaging, playable experience while maintaining functional game mechanics.

Process & Key Deliverables:
Historical Research: Collaboratively conducted in-depth research to identify Pictorial Modernism’s defining visual and philosophical characteristics, including minimalist layouts, geometric compositions, bold imagery, and modernist typography.
Concept & System Design: Applied research insights to redesign Monopoly’s board, creating custom spaces, currency, and game cards that reflected the visual style and philosophy of Pictorial Modernism.
Aesthetic Application: Developed a cohesive visual system using high-quality imagery, typography, and graphics, ensuring all components authentically represented the movement.
Iteration: Created multiple design variations, integrating team feedback to optimize visual cohesion, clarity, and gameplay engagement.

Outcome:
The final deliverable was a fully realized, playable board game with all supporting materials. This project demonstrated the ability to adapt Pictorial Modernism’s aesthetic and philosophy into an interactive design experience, showcased strong group collaboration, and offered an educational and entertaining reinterpretation of a classic game.
