Ladies Night Out Fashion Show

This fashion collection was presented for Grafton Ladies Night Out (August 2019) and features work by Mount Mary University Fashion Design students. The showcase brings together a diverse range of garments that explore elegance, storytelling, and emotional expression through design, highlighting both technical skill and conceptual development within student work.

Stutzman presents a Victorian-inspired ensemble dated to 1885, featuring a separate boned bustier top and a voluminous bustle-style skirt. Rendered in gold and white tones, the design emphasizes opulence, historical accuracy, and dramatic elegance, reflecting a strong understanding of period silhouette and theatrical presentation.

Shoua Xiong: Contributes multiple distinct designs. One is a dark glamour evening gown in rich black velvet, detailed with black and gold lace appliqués and a flowing chiffon train, evoking sensual elegance and intricate craftsmanship.

Another design reimagines the corset bodice trend popular on social media, styled with a vintage summer aesthetic intended for tea parties, garden gatherings, and elegant daytime occasions.

A third look explores seasonal transition, pairing a structured black knit yoke with a soft floral woven fabric to reflect the shift from summer to fall through contrast in texture and tone.

Miranda Lynn: presents a timeless red gown defined by grace and sophistication. Featuring a high neckline with lace appliqué, cap sleeves, a fitted waist, and a voluminous skirt with subtle floral embroidery, the design reflects classic femininity and romantic movement.

Lillian Koch: introduces a red satin ball gown created as a heartfelt tribute to her great-grandfather, honoring his battle with congestive heart failure. Designed for a Red Heart Association event, the gown embodies remembrance, advocacy, and emotional purpose.

Another student designer presents a powerful gown featuring a deep V-neckline, gathered lace bustier, and flowing draped cape. Created as a tribute to women battling cancer, the design emphasizes confidence, grace, and resilience, celebrating inherent beauty and strength.

Together, these garments represent the creative work of Mount Mary University fashion design students, forming a unified showcase for Grafton Ladies Night Out. The collection highlights fashion as both technical craftsmanship and emotional storytelling, bridging historical reference, contemporary trends, and deeply personal narratives within a single presentation.
