Tools Used
Adobe Illustrator: Utilized for primary vector design, font outlining, and creating production-ready mechanicals. Adobe Photoshop: Employed for advanced digital restoration and reconstruction of non-user-friendly reference materials for the back-of-shirt design.Adobe Acrobat: Used to compile and deliver a 40+ page comprehensive project progress report and revision history for committee review. Color Management: Managed a specialized 4-color palette using CMYK (U.S. Web Coated SWOP v2) and Pantone spot color systems.Pre-Press Engineering: Developed detailed technical specifications, including white underbase requirements for Hunter Green fabric and transparency/knockout instructions.Ink & Substrate Knowledge: Specified Plastisol ink treatments and matte finishes to ensure durability and color vibrancy on 100% cotton garments.Digital Proofing: Facilitated a formal proofing workflow to validate color accuracy, placement tolerance ($\pm0.125$"), and sizing before final production.
Problem: The client needed a custom apparel system balancing organizational tradition with a modern, leadership-driven aesthetic then requested a full color-palette overhaul and a structural redesign of the back-of-garment design mid-project.
Approach: Developed a 4-color system (Forest Green, Tan, Parchment, White) optimized for Hunter Green fabric. Repositioned design elements after committee feedback and reconstructed non-user-friendly legacy reference art in Photoshop. Compiled a 40+ page progress report documenting revision history and technical rationale for committee alignment.
Outcome: Delivered a production-ready package (AI, PDF, Pantone spot files) with white underbase specs, CMYK/Pantone separations, and transparency/knockout instructions for screen printing.
